Choose from a wide range of metal door and frame categories.
Metal doors and frames are constructed of cold rolled or galvannealed steel and available with 18- to 14-gauge steel faces. Unless otherwise noted, they can meet fire-rated door requirements for 20 minutes to three hours, depending on materials and size, glass design and hardware. They feature high recycled steel content for LEED points.
Cold rolled steel doors and frames are designed primarily for interior applications.
Galvannealed doors and frames are recommended for exterior and marine applications, as well as interior locations where rust or corrosion may be a factor. Galannealed steel is zinc-coated and finished to facilitate greater forming, welding and paint adhesion characteristics than galvanized steel. G90 (heavy galvanized) doors, zinc coated by a hot dip process, are also available for use in more extreme exterior and interior conditions.
Metal doors are categorized by the internal construction used to support the doors’ face panels. We inventory Ceco and Steelcraft doors in a wide range of categories. Masonry, drywall and fire-rated frames are in-stock for immediate delivery.
Honeycomb Core Doors
Resin-impregnated honeycomb core
The unique honeycomb design distributes support to the face of the door throughout the core, increasing structural integrity. This design provides outstanding performance – even in the heaviest traffic areas. Honeycomb core doors weigh about 30 pounds less than comparable steel-stiffened doors. They are primarily used in interior applications with climate control.
Polyurethane Foam Core Doors
Foamed-in-place polyurethane foam core
These durable, energy-efficient doors are well-suited for rugged traffic areas. The foamed-in-place polyurethane core provides excellent insulating characteristics, with exceptionally flat surfaces facilitating complete chemical bonding of all interior surfaces. The face sheets are totally supported by rigid polyurethane for superior impact resistance, Galvannealed doors with polyurethane foam cores are recommended in moist and marine conditions.
Polystyrene Core Doors
Bonded preformed foam core
Polystyrene core doors provide superior insulating, impact resistance and fire-rating capabilities. They’re often used in exterior applications and are rated for everything from light to heavy-duty use. The core is chemically bonded to the face sheets to provide total surface support. They are available with mechanically interlocked, hemmed vertical edges or stitch-welded seamless edges for greater strength and rigidity.
Solid Mineral Fiber Slab Doors
Solid mineral fiber core
Designed to meet the architectural requirements for temperature rise, fire-rated doors, these doors meet the broadest fire-rating specifications. The mineral board core provides a 250°F temperature rise rating or 450°F at 30 minutes of test exposure, depending on the hardware application. Full height, epoxy-filled mechanical interlock edges provide structural support and stability along the full length of the door edges.
Vertically Steel Stiffened Doors
22 gauge vertical steel, hat-shaped stiffeners welded to face sheets
These doors are ideal for high security commercial and institutional applications. They are rated for heavy-duty to maximum-duty use. 18- to 14-gauge face sheets are available, with door thicknesses of 1¾ inches and 2 inches. 22-gauge steel stiffeners are spaced 6-inches apart and welded to the face sheets. Inverted end channels are also welded to the face sheets. Fiberglass insulation limits thermal and sound transmission. Fire ratings are available from 20 minutes through 3 hours, with a 450°F temperature rise option.
Energy Efficient Steel Stiffened Doors
By fusing composite and steel stiffened cores, patent-pending Trio-E Doors by Ceco provide the insulating benefits of a foam door with the added strength of a steel stiffened laminated core. With a U-Factor of 0.29 and an R-Value of 3.4, Trio-E Doors deliver a unique combination of both security and energy efficiency.

DU Hollow Metal Frames
Design-engineered for installation on standard or non-standard wall thicknesses over prefinished or unfinished drywall board.
SU Hollow Metal Frames
These standard frames with unequal rabbets are designed for masonry, wood or metal stud walls and are installed to either cap or butt the wall. They feature precision die-cut corners with positive locking tabs to assure rigid assembly connections.
Double Egress Hollow Metal Frames
For double doors which open in opposite directions.

Weather-Stripped (Kerf) Frames
Delivering optimum draft control for energy efficiency, while providing high quality, functionality and aesthetically pleasing openings.
Thermal Break Frames
Incorporating a bonded thermal break with compression-type weather-stripping, these frames significantly reduce frost and condensation on the interior door frame face, while providing maximum protection against cold penetration. Available for order.
Hollow Metal Door Frame Anchor Options
For existing walls:
- DynaBolt sleeve anchors for masonry walls
- Wood screws for non-masonry walls
For new construction:
- Wood stud anchors
- Metal stud anchors
- Masonry T anchors

Grouting and Soundproofing
Hollow metal doors frames are grouted during installation (when specified) to provide sound deadening characteristics to the frame. Grouting is accomplished in the field during installation by filling the internal frame cavity with masonry or mortar.
